Full Stack Developer — Shopify & Custom Apps
Remote (U.S. client, Colombia-based)
About the Role
We’re looking for a Full Stack Developer to join the delivery team of Kaldway Technology Group (KTG), a U.S. technology partner, to build and maintain e-commerce and web applications for its clients. The work covers Shopify storefronts, custom backend services, third-party integrations, and internal tooling.
You’ll work directly with a small team, client stakeholders, and design partners, and you’ll own your work from the first conversation about requirements through to production support. This is a hands-on role with real production ownership, as an embedded member of KTG’s team with U.S. time-zone overlap.
What You’ll Own
Shopify & Front End
- Build and customize Shopify storefronts, including themes, cart and checkout logic, and account and subscription experiences.
- Implement front-end designs from Figma with attention to accessibility, performance, and mobile.
Backend, Integrations & Automation
- Build and maintain backend services and APIs, including webhook-driven workflows and background jobs.
- Integrate third-party platforms such as subscription, payments, reviews, loyalty, search, and project management tools.
- Build data pipelines, reporting, and automation, including LLM-powered workflows where they fit.
Maintenance & Delivery
- Maintain and improve existing applications, including inherited codebases: fix defects, pay down technical debt, and manage hosting migrations.
- Turn ambiguous requests into clear technical questions, flag risks early, and document decisions.
- Take part in estimation, code review, and release planning.
Technical Requirements
Required
- 4+ years of full stack experience, with real production ownership.
- Strong JavaScript/TypeScript, with Node.js on the backend and React on the front end.
- Hands-on Shopify development: Liquid themes, the Admin and Storefront GraphQL APIs, webhooks, and metafields and metaobjects. Experience with Shopify Functions, Checkout or Admin UI Extensions, or Shopify Flow is a plus.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs, and the judgment to anticipate where an integration can fail silently.
- Solid backend fundamentals: PostgreSQL, caching, and designing for at-least-once webhook delivery (idempotency, retries, race conditions).
- Working knowledge of AWS and CI/CD. Infrastructure as code is a plus.
- Clear written and spoken English, and comfort working directly with clients.
Nice to Have
- Experience with subscription or B2B commerce.
- Experience building LLM-powered agents or automations.
- Data engineering experience, such as warehouses, BI tools, and ETL connectors.
- Experience with compliance-sensitive flows, such as consent capture, OTP or passwordless login, and regulated products.
- Experience taking over and stabilizing inherited codebases.
Tech Stack
Shopify (Liquid · Admin & Storefront GraphQL APIs · Functions · Checkout & Admin UI Extensions · Flow) · JavaScript / TypeScript · Node.js · React · PostgreSQL · AWS · CI/CD · Infrastructure as code · Figma
AI-First Engineering Culture
At NearShift, AI isn’t a side project — it’s how we work. In this role you’ll use AI tools to move faster across storefront, backend, and integration work, and you’ll build LLM-powered workflows and automations for clients where they add real value. We look for engineers who are curious about where commerce engineering and AI meet.
Core Competencies
- Ownership — from the first requirements conversation to production support.
- Judgment about failure modes: you think about what happens when a webhook arrives twice, late, or never.
- Turning ambiguity into clear questions and documented decisions.
- Clear, direct communication with clients, designers, and engineers.
- Care for accessibility, performance, and the mobile experience.
- Proactivity, continuous improvement, and AI-first thinking.
What We Offer
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary based on your experience and skills.
- Full-time employment contract with NearShift S.A.S. under Colombian labor law.
- Prepaid health plan (Sura).
- A day off on your birthday, plus the Colombian holiday calendar.
- Flexibility in vacations, schedules, and work policies.
- USD 300 referral bonus for every referred candidate who joins NearShift.
- Fully remote work with U.S. time-zone overlap, and access to cutting-edge AI tools and platforms.
Career Growth
- Long-term placement with Kaldway Technology Group and the clients it serves.
- Direct work with U.S. client stakeholders and design partners.
- Variety across storefronts, custom apps, integrations, and data work.
- A path to grow into senior and tech-lead roles.
Hiring Process
- Intro call (30 min). Get to know each other, the role, and KTG.
- Technical conversation (60 min). Walk us through a Shopify build or third-party integration you took to production, and how you handled the ways it could fail.
- Final conversation with the KTG team.
